Oversee and maintain the cleanliness of, services to, and smooth operation of chapel preparations for services. Add value so that operations run smoothly and so that customer service is outstanding by providing cooperative and timely assistance as needed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Set up chapel for funeral services. Inspect chapel for cleanliness and supplies.
• Take delivery of flowers by completing paperwork, ensuring that correct flowers are at the correct chapel, and by arranging flowers in an attractive display.
• Assist with directing funeral services as needed.
• Assist with providing support to funeral services and to outside mortuaries by escorting families to the right location;

assist with checking and verifying grave location for correct lot and grave space; provide assistance at the gravesite; and assist Escort Attendants with coordinating funeral processions and parking vehicles.
• Inspect burial sites for services assigned to them; verify grave location for correct lot and grave space; coordinate with other Escort Attendants the routes for funeral processions and assist with parking vehicles.
• Complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
• Assist with funeral services as needed by being available, eager, helpful, and cooperative.
• Drive Company vehicles in a safe and courteous manner at all times.
• Assure that all work areas, working conditions, and work habits are performed in accordance with Company, state, and federal rules and regulations by understanding the importance of safety.

Report unsafe conditions to management.
• Keep immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems and significant matters, and take prompt corrective action as needed.
• Participate in training and skill development opportunities to improve competency and customer service.
• Report to work on time and maintain standard attendance.

Experience and Education :
• Stable experience in work involving, driving, delivery, customer service, or flower shop
• High School Diploma or GED

Requirements & Qualifications

Sales experience is helpful but not mandatory

High level of comfort using computer systems within a sales environment

Previous experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems is a plus

High level of integrity, dedication, and desire to succeed

Desire to help others and earn a competitive income

Ability to work well as part of a team and independently

Creative, outgoing, and energetic

Comfortable with in-home sales and conducting group presentations

A good driving record and valid driver’s license

Solid work history

Bilingual candidates are strongly preferred

This position may require the associate to obtain and maintain an insurance license in any state in which he/she conducts sales. To obtain the insurance license, the candidate must meet the requirements of Assurant’s background check process which includes, but is not limited to, a criminal history and credit check.

Directing Services Confirms authorization to proceed with service Arrangements. Presides as Master of Ceremonies (MC) for visitation, funeral, or graveside services in a professional, organized, and caring manner consistent with Company standards. Shall be present for graveside services included in the purchase agreement. Shall be present when the casket containing a human body is placed in a grave, crypt, or burial vault and verifies that any personal belongings are removed from the deceased prior to burial per the Arrangements. Visually inspects deceased, adjusts casket dressing, deceased attire or makeup, or communicates concerns to preparation staff. Visually inspects Services Arrangements (visitation, funeral, or graveside) against contractual arrangements and the next of kin expectations; initiates corrective action as appropriate; may provide instruction or guidance to services team members. Interacts with the family to fulfill the death care requests. While interacting with family and guests, obtains leads for pre-need services. Event Planning Perform a variety of event planning responsibilities including but not limited to resource planning and ordering of music, flowers, or catering to fulfill Arrangement requests. Produces MeM products that may include scanning photos, ordering of memorabilia or stationary, creating electronic presentations, writing obituaries, and creating on-line memorials. Prior to event, prepares event room including but not limited to set-up chairs, tables, flowers, guest books, and appropriate d cor. Post event cleans chairs, tables, floors, proper storage of items, identifies property in need of repair, and courier/deliver family memorabilia to home. May perform a variety of attendant duties including but not limited to parking lot attendant, driver, usher, pallbearer, or courier.
